Full Circle

Happy belated Halloween!
Yesterday I went up to Chantilly to go see my brother and sister in Zombie Prom at my alma matter, Chantilly High School. The show was good! The script is a bit weird, and really lacked in zombies which was saddening for me, but the acting was good and the tech was superb!
I loved seeing a bunch of my friends who still go to Tilly. Ben, Soupy, Portch, and Billy all have very special places in my heart and the fact that they're taking such good care of the department is really fantastic.

Seeing a show at the theatre where I learned so much and pretty much spent all of my time as a high schooler and then 24 hours later calling a show at a theatre company that's my first professional gig is bizarre. I love the fact that the same intense connection to theatre hasn't changed, but the ways that I go about it have.

Speaking of which Spinning Into Butter is going really well! We've had two really awesome reviews in Richmond papers so that's a plus! Being on a 4 week run is going to be the best experience I'm going to get out of everything overall I think. I'm only 3/4 done with the run at the moment and that's a strange thought. Maintaining the show will come into play this weekend as the director is running the New York marathon and won't even be in town until next Friday.
I'm on my own and I'm so excited about it!

Is it crazy how adult I feel about it? I mean yesterday was the 2 month mark until I turn 20. That's insane. I'm starting to plan out my future, and although I am down right petrified, I'm also so incredibly excited. I'm ready to go out and be a part of theatre.

In other news... I started For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf (FCG) pre-production on Tuesday. I spent 3 hours making a pristine master copy of the script and in the long run it will be worth it. I'm keeping a positive attitude about the show, but at the same time I'm constantly aware of everything that could go wrong. I guess that's a good thing?

Meh. Well I'm off to write a performance report!
