Cool my brains and soothe my head...

How in the world is it already March?  2010 is really flying by fast for me.  I don't know if that's a good or bad thing yet.  Here's hoping it's good!

Last week I was a sub ASM for The Grapes of Wrath at Barksdale Theatre while their regular one was attending SETC.  It was a great experience to have.  I love the show and I've worked with most of the cast before so it was a smooth transition in and out.
The Joads

I did have some problems with keeping myself in check when it came to running the track for the show.  There are just some things that I would normally do differently than the SM team did them, but the point is to continue what they were doing, not change it.  I'm happy that I had the opportunity to step in so that I could get the experience of trying to fill in.  There was a guest artist SM here a few years ago who said that subbing is a great way to get your foot in the door places.

The Future.  It's a commin.
I am happy to say that I have employment through the beginning of August!  I am returning to the Heritage Theatre Festival as a PSM for Barefoot in the Park and A Tuna Christmas.  I'm really happy to be going back!  There is something very fulfilling about a rehire.  It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Yesterday I submitted my application materials for an apprenticeship that I would pretty much give a kidney for.  It's a big relief to have it out of my hands and be done with it, but at the same time it's frustrating to just... wait.  The website says that I'll get a thumbs up or down mid April.
Remember what I said about 2010 moving fast?  It does not apply to this.
Ah well.  I did my best, got two solid recommendations, and that's all I could do.

Other than that, TCP has been going really well!  Great work is happening on both shows right now.  Spring break starts tomorrow, but I'll be here for rehearsals, including two 10 out of 12s.  Ick.  Not quite like last year where I took a train to Orlando and had an amazing time with Phill.

Until next time!
