I'm working on my (very) out of date portfolio and getting it all nice and presentable, picking up a whole lot of resumes, and doing lots of laundry. Then on Thursday I will get in a car with two of my best friends and drive 14 hours to Memphis where we will be joined by one of my oldest friends. I'm then going to interview for (hopefully) a bunch of jobs.
I wont lie - I'm pretty excited.
There are several steps to having an excellant roadtrip:
- Snackage - there should be munchies of the salty and sweet kind. Pretzels and twizzlers are awesome
- Drinks - I personally take one high in caffeine, Mountain Dew Code Red, and a bottle of water
- Ultimate Playlist of Awesome - This is of the upmost importance. As Barney says in HIMYM "a good playlist should rise, and then continue to rise." I believe this. I also tend to have a second playlist of chill songs for those stretches of low pressure driving.
- Good Driving Buddies - These should be people who you like a lot. They should be able to have awesome conversations as well as be cool with silence.
- All passengers should observe the rule that the radio is controlled by the driver
There you have it. Some simple steps to enjoying long car rides.
What else has been happening? I'm helping do some stage management for my friend Austin's student show Tribal Storytelling Project. It's going really well and I'm enjoying working with him. Friends and theatre dont always mesh well, but in this case it's working out just fine!
We had a second snowstorm this past weekend!!!! It was fantastic!!! On Saturday I made baked French toast and had my friends over for brunch and we watched a lot of Slings and Arrows and I made snickerdoodles. Baking on a snow day is one of my absolute favorite things in the world. Kelsey made us all wonderful chicken catchitore for dinner at her place. Sharing a hot meal with friends while it's snowing outside was just a perfect end to the day.
We ended up not having school on Monday so the unexpected three day weekend was very relaxing. Plus - I LOVE THE SNOW!!! :-)
Classes are classes. They're going well, it's just odd to have only one theatre class (well, and a SM lab) and having to deal with "real" classes. I did turn in my graduation application last week and that was AWESOME! It's getting closer...
Okay, more quality time with my printer and portfolio!
