Ohhhhhhh goodness.
So Crimes of the Heart got totally turned all around. Guh. The one show that I enjoy as a theatre person AND is changeling in a manageable way AND is fun has to be the one that gets all messed with. I mean it's still awesome and I am enjoying it cause the crew type people are swell... but it's not the same.
I began/completed a staged reading of The House of Bernarda Alba. It went really well overall. I somehow ended up having to be in the damn thing as the maid, but only because I have a soft spot for the director.
Meanwhile... My Fair Lady began rehearsals on Tuesday. I'm... excited (?) for this show. I think it will kill me, but hey - it'll at least be interesting. A fully staged musical done in 18 days... yeah. About that...
I'm trying to sort out gigs in Richmond for the upcoming year. I'm hoping that I can have a very full and varied line up of shows that will include a musical (*eye roll*) because after listening to the advice of my current stage manager I think it is a totally necessary evil.
I made the errrrr... smart? decision of going to see The Dark Knight in imax at 3am this morning after a day of MFL rehearsal and a Crimes performance. Yeah. We got out at 6... and the sun was up... annnnnnnd then I kinda sorta had to be in rehearsal at 9:30am. It was totally worth it though. I like my friends here, they make me happy! I did have to sit next to an individual who wasn't particularly... savvy on anything Batman... or you know, intelligent, but Phill was on my other side and we had a well stocked arsenal of candy, so it was all good! Batman = most badass individual of my life. I love seeing a great movie with great people. Huzzah.
Well I need to go and you know, NOT fall asleep in rehearsal.
