All hands on deck

There's something so very "West Wing" about a crisis on a show.
Everyone rushing around, exchanging quick words, making phone calls. It's kind of exciting. Well really it's one of those "one day we'll all look back and laugh about this" kind of things. It's not too exciting during the fact, but you can appreciate it later on.
I had the chance to help out yesterday with a Dracula emergency situation. Emergency is a strong word, but it was really intense. It's always awesome for me to see stage managers in action. I love the efficiency of it all. Eric, Kelsey and I have very different styles of stage managing, but when there's a problem you don't worry about anything like that.
I'm glad I got to be around and observe and learn. I also tried to help out a bit, but they really had everything under control really fast. I was impressed.
Of course it wasn't perfect, but one of the things you need to get over really fast is that in a situation like that there is no such thing as "perfect". There are split second decisions and calls that you just have to hope are for the best.
So yeah. TheatreVCU has its problems of course, but I think that overall everyone pulled through this amazingly.
Go team.
